The candidate will be involved in the architecture, design, development and quality assurance of video networking platforms and terminal equipment. The candidate, if selected, will be a key contributor to the design and development team and will be responsible for the creation of distributed, highly scalable, video networking platform components involving video algorithms processing, video interconnect and related modules.

Job Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize, plan and execute the design and development of system packaging for internetworking products ranging from desktop appliances to network infrastructure equipment.
• Defines, directs and participates in the design verification testing of new products.
• Hands on person, executing project management responsibilities of the system packaging development process.
• Ensure all mechanical engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives.
• Consult with internal cross-functional units for definition and design of product requirements.
• Engage resources outside the work group or company as needed to accomplish engineering objectives
• Lead the resolution of field and product problems.
• Initiates informal reviews of ideas and technical objectives within and across business units.
• Provide vendors with improvement recommendations.
• Provide leadership in the identification and creation of new techniques to advance the processes used in the development of system packaging.
• Interface cross-functionally and leads team collaboration extending beyond work group.
• Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
• Take ownership for initiatives and drives on-going evaluation and success.
• Resolve conflicts by fostering team communications.
• Translate BU level goals into own work assignments.

Job requirements:
The successful applicant must have a proven track record of bringing products to market, and should possess the following particular skills and experience:
• 7-10 years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer with a hi-tech company
• Expertise in a 3D solids based MCAD system, preferably Pro Engineering
• Expertise in the design of card frame/backplane/sub rack assemblies, especially ATCA
• Expertise in designing products in sheet metal, plastic injection molding, pressure forming and die castings.
• Proficiency with a thermal and structural analysis s/w tools.
• Experience in managing and working with external industrial design consultants.
• Experience in managing external mechanical design consultants
• Technical leadership designing, testing and project managing the development of products for worldwide market meeting regulatory compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in geometric tolerancing is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to successfully influence win-win cross-functional dynamics.
• Applies high degree of ingenuity using broad parameters for foundation of decisions.
• Makes product level decisions independently.

• Have outstanding communication, presentation and written skills as well as an ability to deal effectively with both technologists and business representatives and to sell and promote ideas across the organization.

Education
• Requires BSME or equivalent training with 7-10+ yrs related exp.
