Oracle DBA - CR
HP Passport Development DBA position.
Duties
Set up and manage Oracle instances in development & system test environment to enable the development team to develop and test in a production-like environment. The environment includes Real Application Clusters and Advanced Replication technologies from Oracle.
Lead the performance tuning of HP Passport applications. Tuning would involve understanding of all the Oracle queries, running “explain plan” on the queries and recommending alternate ways to achieve the same results optimally.
Lead the resolution of database-related problems in production or in development.
Manage the relationship with Oracle and open and track all the support cases with Oracle related to any Oracle issues.
Lead the resolution of any RAC or ADR issues.
Review the existing conflict resolution rules and create new rules if necessary.
Maintain a document that would explain all the steps when a Disaster Recovery Process is invoked. The document should outline all the steps necessary to rebuild the database, RAC, and ADR after a disaster.
Design the database solution to be used in a new datacenter, based on the learning from the current datacenter implementations.
Understand business requirements and write and fine tune PL/SQL procedures.
Maintain Java stored procedures in the oracle database.
Write SQL scripts to populate the tables. Also copy databases on different servers using tools like export/import, sqlLoader etc.
Provide occasional after hours support for the system test database.
Essential Experience
Developing and managing an Oracle database.
Installing RAC.
Installing ADR.
Writing triggers and stored procedures.
Writing scripts for ad hoc queries and modifications.
Maintaining a database in a production environment.
Optional Additional Skills
Oracle on HP-UX.
