Sr. HP-UX System Administrator

 

-          Immediate requirement for a Sr. HP-UX systems administrator for a 6-12 months contract with one of our clients – US Fortune 500 – based in San Jose, CR.

-          Under limited direction and supervision, provides technical support for network-based HP UNIX servers, Storage Area Networks, and peripherals.

-          Provides full range of technical support in the administration, maintenance, and management of UNIX OS, Oracle Databases, communications protocols, and applications.

-          Plans, evaluates, tests and implements upgrades and enhancements to UNIX based and related systems. Analyzes resolves or works with other IT organizations to resolve hardware, software, and network problems.

-          Provide technical advice and guidance to members of the development, QA and support teams. This position supports a 24x7x365 application hosted in a Data Center.

 

Required Skills:

-          HP UNIX System Administration with very strong HP-UX OS skills along with direct java application integration experience.

-          Knowledge of MC/Service Guard, Weblogic, Tomcat and Apache are required.

-          Must have working knowledge of file systems, disk partitioning and quotas and data security. Shell scripting skills are essential.

-          Working experience with the Systems Management Tool like HP Open View will be helpful.

-          Working knowledge of TCP/IP.

-          Knowledge of SAN and NAS, including remote mirroring of SAN environments is required.

-          Comprehensive knowledge of Backup/Restore technologies.

-          Candidate will be the primary point of contact for the operational support of HP UNIX and SAN environments and will be responsible for lifecycle management of the HPUX Server environments including configuration, documentation, maintenance and upgrades.

-          Candidate will also be responsible for execution of application build and deployment scripts on development, QA and production environments.

-          HP-UX 11i, MC/Service Guard, RAID, SAN Administration

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

-          ORACLE,

-          HP OpenView,

-          SAN Remote Mirroring,

-          Windows OS Administration.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

-          Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 7 years of professional experience; or 5 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
