HP Passport Tech Writer
The position focus is on providing guides for software developers to use a new set of services based on SOAP and XML which enable Identity Management and customer profile management for HP. This is a systems documentation project as opposed to a consumer focused documentation effort.
Job Responsibilities:
The technical writer will be part of HP's Identity Management solution which is an enabling technology for Single Sign On and customer profile management. The audience for the documentation and communications will consist primarily of software programmers who will use the documentation to enable their web based applications with the HP Passport identity management technology.
You must have proven experience writing documentation for a developer's community (Both Unix and Microsoft environments). As the solution is primarily web services and configuration based, you should have experience in writing for this community of users.
You will work with the Developers, Support Staff, Integration Teams, Internal Clients,
Marketing and the QA staff. You will ensure that effective and accurate communications are developed, standardized then published and distributed to the developer user community.
The selected candidate will be required to manage existing documentation as well as produce new documentation, and ensure that they are maintained and up to date with all enhancements, new feature releases and FAQs. You will author developer guides, build
documents, use case scenario documentation, and assist the program with other documentation targeted at our user community such as Principle and Policies of Integrations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Authoring and maintaining user guides, developer guides, data migration
guides, FAQs, and troubleshooting manuals.
- Work remotely with a variety of teams (release, development, support, etc.) to produce comprehensive, useful and accurate documentation.
- Champion documentation strategy for the program.
- Consult on overall developer program improvements/ help build a better developer program.
- Maintain and enhance program communication tools, including team intranet site and Microsoft Sharepoint (internal documentation store).
Requirements:
Minimum of 4 years experience in writing technical documentation, such as
user guides, programmer guides, API references, administrative manuals,
installation guides, and release notes for a product engineering group.
Experience in writing style guides, setting documentation standards, designing templates, and layout of documents and providing quality assurance testing and analysis of documents.
Need to be able to manage, prioritize and communicate on a wide variety of documentation tasks ranging from the delivery of Web Services Developer guides, and the championing of a documentation strategy.
Strong planning/organizational and leadership skills are required.
Strong ability to work independently and with remote teams is required.
Experience with Web Services and SOAP is required.
Experience in technical writing for a developer community is required.
Experience in writing to convey business/technical overviews and quickly
dive into the details of the product is required.
Experience with Identity Management (SiteMinder) is desired.
Experience with Java, XML, .NET, Networking, NT, and HP-UX
a plus.
